Previewing and specimens

Font preview

The Font preview panel sets text in the font as you draw it. Type your own, or replace it with a preset. Beside Custom text are example phrases for the character you're drawing. They come with the app; with AI features turned on and your own AI key in Settings, more are generated by the AI provider, billed to your key. A Han font also has Words and Sentences, with pinyin and meanings: drag a character in a card to kern it against its neighbour. Kerning and each feature can be switched on and off. Under Split views, compare kerning on and off, regions side by side, or lines beside columns.

Specimens

The Specimens panel is a gallery of layouts to try the font in: a waterfall of sizes, a periodic table (click an element to edit its character), and metro maps of Hong Kong, Amoy and Dublin. ⌘-click a specimen to open a second copy.

Review

The Review panel checks the font and reports: coverage of each charset, glyphs out of position, bounds that don't fit, and features with glyphs missing. It doesn't change anything itself.
