Pteropixel

Introduction

Pteropixel is a set of apps for making pixelated things in the browser: Paint for pixel art, the Font Editor for pixel fonts, and the Music Composer for writing music on a piano roll. They share one workspace, so what you work on carries over to the others.

The apps are in closed testing. To try them, email hello@yile.art. Work in a folder on your computer with no account (in Chrome, Edge or another Chromium browser), or sign in by email or with GitHub to keep it in Pteropixel's cloud storage. Saving and versions has the details.

Each app has a read-only demo you can open without an account, from the homepage.

Not supported yet: editing on a phone. There the Music Composer opens as a player, and Paint and the Font Editor ask for a desktop browser.

The apps are built for Chrome and other Chromium browsers, such as Edge, Arc and Brave, kept up to date. In Safari, Firefox or an older Chromium they open, but some features are missing or slower.

How these docs are organised

The first pages cover what the apps have in common: the canvas and panels, and how saving works. After that each app has its own section. Pages are short and can be read in any order.
